La Carreta - San Mateo: Authentic Mexican Food Truck with Flavorful Burritos & Carne Asada Fries

I'm usually too lazy to leave reviews, but I had to for this place! There are a lot of local taco trucks with long lines, and I often don't get the hype. But this one? Absolutely mind-blowing! Their Asada fries and burrito are fantastic. I also tried the Vampiro because the owner recommended it, and it was unbelievably good. I truly hope this business becomes even more successful! (I wish I had more pictures to add, but unfortunately, I ate all already.... )

On a cold Wednesday afternoon, my partner and I wanted to find a good Mexican spot for some food. I found this taco truck on Google and with such good reviews, I knew it would be worth a try. So, we headed over and they are parked up by a company’s office building, which in retrospect it is probably fine to just park in that parking lot for a short time, but scared we had parked across the street. It is a relatively busy wide street so it was a little suspect, but nonetheless we made our way to the truck. We ordered a super burrito with cabeza as well as the carne asada fries. The burrito was absolutely massive and the meat was super tender. The carne asada fries were also in a huge portion and so delicious. The meat was chopped up really small so it was tender and there was this smokeyness in the meat that was so nice. The food here was so good and the owner/operator was a really chill guy. I will definitely come back here for more.

Yummy Mexican tacos food truck with plenty of parking. Al pastor, lengua (tongue) and carne asada are the top 3! Clean and good pricing!! Early dinner and don’t have to wait in the line next to target.

This is the best Mexican food I've had for a while —in fact, one of few good food options in Foster City. I also appreciated that the food wasn't too salty or greasy, and the kitchen looked very clean. The food truck is conveniently located next to a large parking lot, so it is easy to drive there and grab takeout.

Just WOW! I ordered a super burrito with carne asada, and oh my it was absolutely DELICIOUS! This is seriously the best burrito I’ve had in a long time. It was packed with flavor, and good quality ingredients. My meal came with chips and salsa verde, and the salsa was so good and flavorful! Everything is MADE TO ORDER, which I prefer and happy to wait for because you will see the difference and taste how better it is this way. There is plenty of parking where they are stationed, and there is a beautiful lake and grassy area so bring your picnic blanket to enjoy your meal! There is also another park 5 min drive away, parkside aquatic park with lots of tables if you prefer that. I will have to come back to try more menu options!

I’m super happy I found this food truck, the food it’s delicious and the service is amazing. The owner is always in a good mood, really friendly and very professional. I have order almost everything on the menu and every single plate is delicious. Thank you so much for all your hard work it shows on the freshness and the flavor in the food :)

They catered an event I attended. Carnitas tacos were amazing! They bring in their setup, cook, and serve to order. Highly recommended! I'll definitely be looking for their food truck soon.

Randomly chose this spot after a walk and wow, 10/10. Good, heavy portion for their pastor fries and the horchata was perfect. Not too watery or sweet!
